Most asked questions related to a Daysail
How long is a Daysail or a Nightsail?

The sailing trips are usually one to two hours long, depending of the wind conditions and the location. Special arrangements can be done for shorter or longer trips. Please contact us if you need special arrangements.

Who can participate in a Daysail or a Nightsail?

The sailing trips are organized for a whole family, parents, sibblings and/or caregivers of a special needs individual, or a group of special needs individuals such as a school class, a group from another organization such as Best Buddies, or a group home. Please contact us if you need special arrangements.

Who cannot participate in a Daysail or a Nightsail?

We are unable to provide our Daysails to individuals that cannot seat by themselves, wheelchair bound individuals. or individuals that could be dangerous to themselves or to others.

What is the age limit for participants in a Daysail or a Nightsail?

There is no age limit to participants. It is recommended for children 2 years of age and older in most of our program locations. Certain locations would indicate on their schedule a different limit is enforced.

How many can participate in a Daysail or a Nightsail?

Each location might be different. Usually, we can accomodate 4 to 10 individuals, depending of the boat used. We might indicate the maximum number on each Daysail per boat on the schedule page. Please contact us if you need special arrangements.

What do we need to bring and/or wear?

Be prepared for cooler temperatures on the water. Dress in layers, a windbreaker or water repellant jacket is recommended. We suggest bringing a backpack for your additional items, which can be stored below deck if not needed.

Each person sailing should wear white rubber-soled shoes to avoid making marks on the deck of the boat. It is very difficult to remove black marks. Crocs or boat shoes are good, flip flops and sandals are not recommended for your safety.

Bring sunscreen even if it is a cloudy day. You may burn very quickly due to the sun's reflection on the water.

What do the Special Needs participants receive for crewing the Daysail?
Each Special Needs participant receives a personalized Certificate of Sailing and an olympic style medal.

What is a difference between a Daysail and a Sail-a-thon?

A Daysail is a sailing trip of an hour to two hours, organized for one or two families, or a group of few individuals, on a single sailboat.

A Sail-a-thon is an event where we may have multiple boats sailing at a scheduled time taking different groups at once. We could accomodate few hundred participants that day.

What is included in a meal (if provided):
